Lyra Sullivan entered the shop, smiling as she caught the smell of warm coffee and hot chocolate. It smelled cosy, it smelled like home. Just the smell was amazing! She had been advised to come here by some older students, and she had to admit they were absolutely right. Her companion Pokémon, Karma the Meowth, leapt onto her shoulder and sniffed about, eyes bright. The cat wasn't incredibly well bonded with her companion, but this was understandable since Lyra hadn't even got halfway through her first term yet. The cat's whiskers twitched and she mewed gently. Lyra tickled her behind the ears, surprised when she recieved a lick in response. Karma was being surprisingly effectionate- that probably meant she wanted something. "I'll get you a nice bowl of warm milk, shall I?" she offered, the Normal type nodding eargerly. She'd got what she was after.
Lyra joined the line, Karma moving around to get a better look at the place and smell the various smells. The girl was a little annoyed at times as, say, a claw dug into her back, but in general she managed to keep the Meowth under control. Finally it was her turn to be served. "One hot chocolate, a chocolate biscuit and some warm milk for my Meowth, please," she asked politely, handing over a little money in return for her drinks. Carefully, she set them down on a table and sat in one of the large, highly comfortable chairs. Karma hopped down to lap up her milk in fast gulps, before settling down on her trainer's lap, dozing sleepily in a happy mood with a warm, full tummy. Lyra stroked her gently as she sipped the hot chocolate, feeling pretty content with life at that moment in time.
Karma was purring loudly, and Lyra felt that they were becoming closer to one another. She wished she could understand Pokémon speech, though. That would be pretty cool. She tickled her under her chin, Karma opening her eyes slightly and rolling onto her back, so Lyra rubbed her tummy, nibbling the biscuit (or cookie to you Americans). Karma sat up, mewing something. Lyra had no idea what she'd just said to her. "Sorry, buddy, but I don't speak Pokémon. Maybe in time, hm? I'll bet someone's left Oak Academy understanding their Pokémon's speech. Maybe we could aim for that, hm?" she puzzled over this, Karma nodding. The cat hoped that her trainer would be able to understand her at some point, since there was so much to say. For now things seemed fine, she supposed, but in future it would definately come in handy. Still, it must be difficult for humans to learn.
Lyra looked down at the feline on her lap again. "I wonder if anyone from the Academy's here? I could do with some company. Plus they'd have more Pokémon for you to make friends with," she smiled, Karma's tail swishing gently from side-to-side. She imagined that anyone who came in here would probably have stronger Pokémon than her, so if they did decide to talk to them, she hoped that the Pokémon would understand that they were new to everything and not bully her or anything silly like that.
